AAA Carolinas Awards $102,000 to Local Charities

Charlotte, N.C. (May 4, 2020) – AAA Carolinas awarded six local charities through its Cares program as a commitment made by the entire organization.

“We are extremely proud of our Cares program as it continues to grow every year,” said Jim McCafferty, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of AAA Carolinas. “It’s more than a donation to us. We have partnered with great charities that do very important work in the community and all of us at AAA Carolinas are honored to be able to aid them in their mission.”

AAA Carolinas raised $102,000 in 2019 to divide among the charities. However, due to the recent developments of COVID-19 and the stay-at-home order, financial contributions were delivered instead of check presentations during the annual Cares luncheon.

AAA Carolinas started the Cares program as a way for employees to give back to the community through volunteering and awareness generated by our fleet of co-branded trucks. Employees also pay $1 to wear jeans on Fridays as part of its “Casual for a Cause” initiative. The company then matches the total.

Since 2012, the AAA Carolinas Cares program has supported several charities in the Carolinas, but we can think of no more important year than this, as we are in the midst of one of the most trying periods in history.

At this time, AAA Carolinas has partnered with the six charities below:

  • American Cancer Society; Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
  • Habitat 4 Humanity
  • Make-A-Wish
  • Paralyzed Veterans of America
  • Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte
  • Special Olympics North Carolina
