AAA Carolinas Offers TSA PreCheck Enrollments in Columbia

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (January 29, 2019) – AAA Carolinas will be hosting a week-long “pop up” event to enroll the community in TSA PreCheck, provided by IdentoGO. This event will be held at AAA Carolinas in Columbia, SC.

“TSA PreCheck was designed to shorten the security screening process before you board a flight,” said Ernie King, General Manager for AAA Carolinas Travel.  “It helps create a stress-free travel environment at the airport and it’s a benefit that lasts five years and only takes minutes to sign up.”

When: Monday, February 4 – Friday, February 8 from 9 a.m. – 12 and 1 p.m. – 5.
*Friday the 8th will only take place from 9-12.

What is TSA PreCheck?
TSA Pre✓® is an expedited screening program that enables identified low-risk air travelers to enjoy a smart and efficient screening experience. For TSA Pre✓® travelers, there is no need to remove shoes, 3-1-1 liquids, laptops, light outerwear or belts. Today, TSA Pre✓® has more than 450 lanes at 200+ U.S. airports.

The TSA Pre✓® application program allows U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents directly apply for TSA Pre✓®. Once approved, travelers will receive a “Known Traveler Number” (which can be added to a travelers airline profile and reservations) and will have the opportunity to utilize TSA Pre✓® lanes at select security checkpoints when flying on 47+ carriers that currently participate in TSA Pre✓® .

How do I sign up?
The event is open to the public – you do not have to be a AAA member to join. Walk-ins are available but AAA Carolinas recommends making an appointment ahead of time to ensure a spot and avoid a wait.

Appointments can be made online by following the steps below:

1. Click here to access the application page https://www.identogo.com/precheck
The application fee is $85 and can be paid by personal credit card, money order, or certified/cashier’s check. Cash and personal checks are not accepted.
2. Click “Start Application Now”, then click “Apply Now”
3. Fill out Steps 1-4
4. On Step 4 (Create an Appointment (Columbia) and click “Next”
5. Choose location “4526 Forest Drive” and click “Next”
6. Select your desired appointment time (Please be sure to make note of your appointment time, no reminders will be sent- *Choose “walk in” option for day of enrollment.

IMPORTANT! To complete the application process, you will need to bring documentation proving identity and citizenship status. If you have a valid U.S. passport, that is all you need for ID.
