Charlotte, N.C. (April 20, 2021) – AAA Carolinas awarded six local charities through its Cares program recently as a commitment made by the entire organization.

“We are extremely proud of our Cares program and how it has had to pivot over the last year due to the pandemic,” said Jane Mackey, Marketing Director, AAA – The Auto Club Group in the Carolinas. “It’s more than a donation to us. We have partnered with great charities that do very important work in the community and all of us at AAA Carolinas are honored to be able to aid them in their mission.”

AAA Carolinas raised nearly $100,000 in 2020 to divide among the charities. However, due to COVID-19 and social distancing efforts, financial contributions were delivered during an outside check presentation instead of during the annual Cares luncheon.

AAA Carolinas started the Cares program as a way for employees to give back to the community through volunteering and awareness generated by our fleet of co-branded trucks. Despite most employees working from home, money is deducted from employee paychecks every month as part of its “Casual for a Cause” initiative. The company then matches the total.

Since 2012, the AAA Carolinas Cares program has supported several charities in the Carolinas, but we can think of no more important year than this, as we are in the midst of one of the most trying periods in history.

At this time, AAA Carolinas has partnered with the six charities below:

  • American Cancer Society; Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
  • Habitat for Humanity Charlotte Region
  • Make-A-Wish Central & Western NC
  • Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte
  • Special Olympics North Carolina
  • Paralyzed Veterans of America
