CHARLOTTE, N.C. (August 5, 2019) – On the week, gas prices are down across the Carolinas and nationally. Prices are cheaper as demand saw a small dip on the week, even though overall demand remains robust for the summer.
North Carolina’s $2.50 average is three cents less on the week, six cents less on the month and 20 cents less than this time last year. South Carolina’s $2.37 average is three cents less than a week ago, four cents less than a month ago and 22 cents less than this time last year.
“Motorists in the Carolinas are experiencing a little relief at the pump this week,” said Tiffany Wright, AAA Carolinas spokesperson. “We expect this trend to continue through the next week or two.”
Gas prices by region:
The average national gas price dropped by two cents on the week to $2.71. This is less expensive than a week, a month (-4 cent) and a year (-15 cents) ago.
Today, motorists can find gas for $2.75 or less at 65% of gas stations across the country.
