Carolina Gas Prices Slowly Decline for the Third Straight Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (October 14, 2019) – Despite an unseasonal spike in demand, gas prices are decreasing for motorists across the Carolinas.

North Carolina’s average of $2.38 is down two cents on the week, up three cents on the month and down 36 cents on the year. South Carolina’s $2.24 average is down four cents on the week, up a penny on the month and down 35 cents on the year.

“Our statewide gas price average has been gradually decreasing the past three weeks and we expect this trend to continue, barring any major industry or geopolitical events,” said Tiffany Wright, AAA Carolinas spokesperson. “But the real savings we’re seeing is when prices are compared to this same time last year. Carolinians are paying more than 30 cents less than this time last year in both states.”
