Where to Stay: Disney Resort Basics

Disney resorts are grouped into four categories, each with its own price range. Resorts
from each category are found throughout Walt Disney World; some are closer to specific parks than others. When deciding where to stay, we encourage you to consider these factors along with other elements like amenities, theme and more.

Value Resort Hotels

Value Resort Hotels
These resorts tend to be less expensive and incorporate fun themes throughout. Expect them to be full of families and youth groups which equals more noise. Properties have exterior corridors and no waterslide option at the pool. They offer food court only for onsite dining and are located further from the parks. You should like buses as this is only included transportation.

Our Recommended Resort:
Art of Animation– *The best theming of Disney’s Value Resorts, nicer pools, a better food court, and the availability of family suites make this the best choice among

Moderate Resort Hotels

Moderate Resort Hotels
These properties offer a great value with onsite restaurant and food court. Pools include a waterslide, properties have exterior corridors and there is Bell Service upon check-in and still have buses as the only transportation option.

Our Recommended Resort:
Port Orleans French Quarter– *French Quarter is smaller and more intimate than the other Disney Moderate Resorts. It shares the amenities with its sister resort, Riverside, so a pleasant walk brings you to a table service restaurant, Boatwrights Dining Hall, and more pool options.

Deluxe Resort Hotels

Deluxe Resort Hotels
Offering fabulous pools, multiple dining options, spa/fitness and recreation amenities. Deluxe properties also offer room service and a variety of transportation options to and from the parks.

Our Recommended Resort:
The Polynesian Village Resort– *One of Walt Disney World’s original resorts, the Polynesian has some of the largest rooms on property, a multitude of recreation options, and is extremely well-located. Take a monorail or boat ride to the Magic Kingdom and get to Epcot via the monorail. The white sand beaches on the shores of Seven Seas Lagoon make a great viewing spot for the Magic Kingdom fireworks or the Electrical Water Pageant.

Deluxe Villas

Deluxe Villas
Tucked away within their sister Deluxe Resorts, villas offer more space as well kitchen and laundry convenience.

Our Recommended Resort:
Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary– *Offering studios, one, two and three-bedroom units, Bay Lake Tower is attached and shares amenities with Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Location is the key here. You can catch the monorail in the atrium of the Contemporary and a short, 10-minute walk takes you to the Magic Kingdom.
